Celebrating Student Success

At the close of the 2020 spring semester, students across the nation left campuses without celebrating graduation events in an effort to avoid contracting COVID-19. In the Department of Chemistry, we wanted to do something special. I created an event called Celebrating Student Success to give graduating students and those who would have been honored at the 2020 Department of Chemistry Awards Ceremony a place and a time to share the excitement of the two events with family and friends. Company Fan Drive to benefit low-income senior citizens

The Cleco Fan Drive is an annual fundraising event through which employees raise money to purchase fans for senior citizens across Louisiana. For four years, I served as the chair, project manager and communications lead for the event. I set up the team, hosted meetings and motivational events, and worked with the Council on Aging offices to distribute fans. During my first year as chairperson, I led a team of 30 employees in increasing funds raised from $10,000 in 2008 to $22,000 in 2009. In 2011 I worked with the team to create a benefit cookbook. I also set up live radio remote broadcasts and increased publicity by working with the media.

Louisiana Family Expo

At The Town Talk daily newspaper, I created and coordinated the Louisiana Family Expo, selecting the location, promoting the event on air, setting up news and web publicity, selling booths, securing entertainment, acquiring security and ensuring vendors were satisfied with the experience.
