Tatum Lyles is a public relations practitioner and science writer with extensive experience in photography, website usability, and graphic design.

She edited and created numerous print publications, including two regional magazines, medical newspaper sections, regional travel guides and a variety of websites.

As a professional photographer, Tatum covered weddings, press conferences, athletic events, calendar and fashion shoots. Though action photography is one of her specialties, she has a passion for emotion-evoking artistic images.

As a public relations professional, she was a communication, events and marketing coordinator at a top tier research university and for a New York Stock Exchange-traded utility corporation. She is experienced in crisis, external, student and employee communication.

Tatum (on right) wins a first-place award for the Cleco Energy Smart website’s  public relations plan, at the inaugural Cypress Awards ceremony held by the central Louisiana chapter of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana (PRAL).

Tatum also served as secretary, vice president and president of the central Louisiana chapter of the American Advertising Federation and chair of the central Louisiana ADDY Awards two years in a row. She was president of the Public Relations Association of Louisiana, Central Louisiana Chapter and, with the help of a very dedicated team, initiated the first ever Cypress Awards.

She has planned numerous functions including the Louisiana Family Expo, awards programs, fundraising events and news conferences.

She worked for several years in two different labs at Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, LA, where she gained research experience in medical entomology and disease ecology. With a bachelor’s degree in journalism, experience working in the LSU Library and additional study in biology, she excels at science writing and in covering emerging research topics.
